Feature Film Project — Casting & Collaborators Wanted

We are currently developing our first feature-length film.
I am Kimi Meguro, serving as director and co-producer.

I have been involved in various film festivals, art festivals, and cultural projects in Japan and abroad.

As the project is still in early development, we are first looking to connect with potential cast members and collaborators.

No acting experience is required.
This is not an audition-based or paid workshop-style casting process.

We welcome professional actors and performers, as well as people interested in filmmaking, and those with little or no experience in film or the arts.

We would like to begin with casual conversations or online meetings.

CASTING

■ Large Male (around 45)
(Secondary lead within one chapter)

Japanese or broadly East Asian appearance
Approx. 180–185 cm
Approx. 90–110 kg
Location: designated region preferred
The role includes dialogue (does not need to be perfect), and plays an important part in advancing the story and its narrative context

■ Women (late 30s to around 50s, approx. 2 roles)

Japanese or individuals with ties to the designated region
Approx. 150–160+ cm
Location: designated region preferred
One role involves handing a key object to the main character; performance is mostly reactive (“receiving” acting), but it becomes a narrative trigger that expands into other chapters
The second role is not a main character but belongs to a broader rural community — a character with a certain presence, slightly outside conventional social norms

No acting experience is required.

We place importance on the individual’s presence, background, voice, and connection to place, rather than professional experience or technical skills alone.

At this stage, we are focusing on communication and discussion, through which the script and structure of the story may also be further developed.

This casting is open within Japan.

Our aim at this stage is to finalize the core roles.

REMUNERATION & SUPPORT

Lead / Secondary Lead (multiple roles): ¥50,000 – ¥100,000
Supporting roles: from ¥20,000+

After the premiere, names will be credited on international databases such as IMDb and MUBI
Submission to international film festivals and arts festivals, including award categories
Planned submission to major film festivals and art platforms worldwide

Director and Producers: Career History

《 Kimi Meguro（きみめぐろ） / 目黒公義》

Kimi Meguro was born in Fukushima, Japan. Lived and worked in Spain, Argentina and Canada first. He is a Tashkent IFF Under 35 filming program fellow (VGIK Uzbekistan, Former Afro-Asian FF, 2021-22), and trained at Ateliers Varan (2023) and Netflix-presents NYC Writer's Lab (VIPO Japan, 2025).

Through experimental film, documentary, acting, and near-silent formats, he primarily focuses on locations across the Global South and is currently developing a feature film that reconfigures geography like a shifting puzzle, switching places and spatial relations to create a new cinematic language.

His short and mid-length films and video works have been presented at Athens Digital Arts Festival (Greece, 2021), Jeonju ISFF (Korea, 2023), MocFest/Cinema Love (Closing Screening, 2023), and FIDAXV Valdivia (Chile, 2024). As an actor, he appeared in a regional film project that holds Japan’s longest continuous screening record and was featured in the New York Times International Edition (2015).

《 David Torrico | Music (Studio: WOKsound, Madrid) 》

David Torrico (Madrid, Spain) is a composer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Spain. He holds a Higher Degree in Composition and Arranging from Escuela de Música Creativa in Madrid and completed the Songwriting Program at Berklee College of Music’s Valencia campus. His training also includes studies in orchestration, jazz harmony, sound engineering, and flamenco guitar.

As a composer and performer, Torrico has worked across music, film, documentary, theatre, dance, video art, and poetry performances. He has shared stages with acclaimed Spanish and Latin American artists including Antonio Vega, Luis Pastor, Pedro Guerra, Ariel Rot, Eliseo Parra, and Jorge Drexler. He is co-founder of the folk ensemble ZAGALA and founder of the production company WOKsound, through which he develops music for audiovisual works and advertising.

Torrico was selected as Artist-in-Residence at the Antonio Gala Foundation in Córdoba and received multiple scholarships from Fundación Música Creativa and AIE. His international touring activity has included performances in Brazil, Cuba, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, the United States, and Morocco through a program organized by the Cervantes Institute.

His experience bridging Iberian, Latin American, and contemporary musical traditions makes him particularly suited to internationally oriented film projects.

Closing Note

We are planning screenings at international film festivals, art exhibitions, and potential online distribution.

This project comes from a concern about the increasing difficulty of developing new feature films, and the growing limitations within traditional production and distribution systems.

Rather than following conventional commercial or genre-driven frameworks, we aim to explore alternative ways of filmmaking that leave a strong memory of people and place.

Although not specified in the casting breakdown, the project is also inspired by encounters with younger generations and people working across cultural and social “in-between” spaces, as well as those with limited prior experience in film.

Over the past months (and possibly longer), this project has been gradually developed through encounters with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, often in informal or unexpected settings.

As a result, the film embraces a balance of structured storytelling and improvisation — at times theatrical, at times documentary-like, and at times simply observational.

We hope to create a small but open and meaningful production environment, grounded in freedom, warmth, and collaboration.
